Earlier this year Coronavirus put a halt on all international travel, especially from the US. For those Americans looking to get that fresh passport stamp, their reality became a dream. Month’s later, although the pandemic is still present there are some countries opening up to US travelers. Here are our top five international destinations for US travelers right now.
On July 10, Aruba began welcoming US tourists to its beautiful turquoise beaches.
Tourists will have to complete a self-health declaration 72 hours before arriving in Aruba as well as show a negative COVID-19 test or pre-pay for a test to be completed while there.
Travelers arriving between July 1 and July 7 will have to show a negative COVID-19 test no more than 10 days old. After July 7, that test needs to be no more than seven days old, according to the ministry. Visitors will also have to fill out an electronic Health Visa before their departure.
Visitors will also have to fill out a travel authorization process online and pay a $75 fee.
Travelers will also be tested at the airport and have to quarantine at their accommodation until the results are ready. This typically takes four to eight hours. Visitors will then be tested every few days while on the island and be required to take their temperature twice each day and report it online.
On June 15, Jamaica opened the border to tourists, requiring arriving passengers to pass a temperature check and having some undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival, according to the Jamaica Tourist Board.
On July 7, Dubai allowed foreign tourists to return, requiring visitors to download the city’s COVID-19 DXB app and register. Tourists will have to either arrive with a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than four days before departure or get tested at the airport upon arrival, according to the government.
Although the countries listed above are currently accepting US visitors, those who choose to travel are strongly encouraged to check local government restrictions, rules, and safety measures related to COVID-19 before departure. It is important to take personal comfort levels and health conditions into consideration.
